SIBU: A family of four chose to spend their Labour Day holiday by preparing for the Sibu Street Art Festival to be held from May 5 to 13.

Peter Aaron Wee, a journalist, took his wife Tuai Rumah Sijah Ejut, 15-year-old son Wee Jun Bin and 20-year-old daughter Wee Sia Ching to Sibu Town Square Corridor to paint two murals for the festival.

Wee said they were approached by Sibu Municipal Council for the murals, having participated in last year’s festival.

According to him ‘The Blossom of One Hundred Flowers’ shows animated characters from comics while ‘The Sunset of Sibu’ comes with a poem, depicting the beauty of Sibu represented by a white Swan for its community of grace and warmth.

“We hope to add colours to Sibu while the council aggressively promotes tourism,” he said.

The family hoped to finish the two pieces by midnight because Jun Bin has to go to school.
