Please settle your assessment rates on or before due dates of payment, failing which a fee or surcharge of 1% per month or part thereof shall be imposed upon them without any exception as referred to Section 74 (1), Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996.

CHANGE OF OWNERSHIP

The provision of Part VII - Section 87, Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996, you are legally obliged to give notice of sale to Council in writing if your rateable holding is SOLD or TRANSFERRED to another party or parties. The instrument effecting change of ownership or certified true copy thereof should be produced to the Council for record purpose. Section 87 (6), Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996, specifies that every person failing to give any notice shall be guilty of an offence.

DEMOLITION OF RATEABLE HOLDING

In accordance with Regulation 7(a), Local Authorities (Rating) Regulation, 1997, it shall be lawful for the local authority at any time to remit in whole or in part any rate imposed on any rateable holding in any case in which such rateable holding has been demolished since the date of the making of the valuation list. As such, the owner of rateable holding NEEDS to notify the Council IMMEDIATELY after the rateable holding is being demolished. Council could NOT ENTERTAIN any request for waiving of assessment rates due to late notification.
